St. Kieran's Voice- Student Newsletter Edition 1
Editors Note

Hi everyone!
Welcome to our first student newsletter! I’m Archer Sabrinskas your editor, and I’m really excited to share all the cool things happening at our school. We’ll have stories about events, fun interviews with students and teachers, awesome photos, and more. This newsletter is for all of us, so let’s make it amazing together!
A quick note from Mrs Marino- "The Student Voice newsletter is exactly what it sounds like—created by students, for students and families. From the stories and photos to the interviews and edits, it’s all done by our students and really shows who we are at St Kieran’s. Each edition will focus on different classes, written and edited by different students. We're so proud of the learners at St. Kieran's and hope that you enjoy reading it as much as the students have loved producing it!"

In the past few weeks at St Kierans we have had lots of exciting news. In year six on the 11th of June all the grade six students got new matching hoodies, all thanks to Mrs Howard, they not only look amazing but make all the grade sixes nice and warm, perfect for this winter.
Next up a few weeks ago on the 16 of may Ms Li prepared a Chinese face changing incursion for us all, Earlier that morning the grade two to sixes had a noodle stretching lesson with Mr Gao who visited all the way from Melbourne (thank you so much Ms Li.)
Then of course we can’t forget about June third because on the third of June we had our school photos, everyone came in their cleanest school uniform and their nicest hair.
And finally the day after school photos (June fourth ) our St Kierans senior students from grade four to six had winter sports. On the day we went to Lowanna college and competed in many different sports such as Footy, Soccer, Netball and Volley Stars were at the rec centre.

In grade one we have been doing number lines using the ipads having fun reading doing lots of maths and special classes like STEM, music, and library.
My favorite special classes are art and music because in art we always get to make something. I also like music because we get to do such fun things.
1KF is the best class in the school because we respect all of our teachers, we are great listeners and we do our work.

Grade 2 News

Grade 3 News

Reported by Ada Jordan- Year 3, age 8.
Can you believe it's week 9 of term 2 already! Wow and we have had such a great semester. The class is busy working on poetry - yes we are poets and we know it!
Secondly we now know so much about fast earth changes - so if you need to know about earthquakes, cyclones, and volcanoes ask us, we won't fuss.
Money isn't funny - did you know our currency takes such a long time to make? Did you know Australia was the first country to print notes on plastic not paper? And why are the $2 coins smaller than the $1 coins? It's to help the blind people recognise it.
Waste not, want not-don't spend money on things you don't need.
Time for more maths!- yes we are learning about time, the analogue clock is actually a numberline. Some have 3 hands some have 2, skip count by 5’s will help work out your digital times.
Time to go.

Grade 4 & Grade 4/5 News

Written by Harper Gray- Grade 4GM
Hello parents and everyone, this week and the past week Grade 4GM have been doing Space flipbooks, timelines, narrative writing, making up space planets and poetry- pre assessment.
First thing first I will tell you about the space flipbook!
We have to go on chromebooks and search up science.nasa.gov and it tells us about the planets like there are many moons and lots more!
Now I will be telling you about the timelines!
About 3 weeks ago We finished Loe and Ralph ( it’s a book, go and read it it was so good) and we stared to do a timelines it’s where you write all the important things that happened and break the important thing into part but make sure you put the parts in the right order. Then draw pictures about the story.
Narrative writing, Miss G said we needed to have an imaginary friend in the story and when we are finished we send it to Miss G so she can print it out and then she will staple it.
Last but not least, grades of 4GM have made stars! First we have to choose any star and research about the star. Then we go up to Miss G and choose the colour for are star(but it have to be the real colour of the star) and then she print it out and then we have to write facts about the star, also we write the star name in the middle of the star.Last thing once we done both sides of the star Miss G will hang them up on the roof!
Thank you for reading what Grade 4GM has done these past 3 weeks.

Grade 5 & 6 News

Written by Sophie Howard- Grade 5
In 5/6 for the past few weeks we have had sooo much fun with incursions , new learning and a lot more! On the 11th of June all of the grade sixes who had been spending months in the cold without jumpers received a hoodie with all their names on the back. You should've seen their faces when they finally arrived!!!
A few weeks ago we had so many incursions it was hard to keep track of them all! Some of them included , a cyber safety and bullying incursion and a science incursion. Not long after we had a baby shower to celebrate the wonderful Miss Maddy for her baby boy who is not far away. We ate lots of food, designed onesies for the baby ( some of us got to draw our designs on ACTUAL onesies!) guess the name and birthday, baby animal names and just having fun with Miss Maddy.
On Thursday 28th of May some of our Grade 6 students went to St Keirans church and made the sacrament of Confirmation. This was very exciting for them as it means they are officially part of God's family.
On the first of May all our 5/6s went to Lowana for the day and experienced what it would feel like as a high school student. Everyone loved it and a lot of us are going to Lowana next year and in 2027. In 5/6 we have been learning so much fun, cool and interesting topics such as non-fiction writing reports, natural disasters, all about saints and so much more.
I hope you had fun reading this. Below there will be some pictures.

In Stem Grade 5/6 have made puppets, they have at least 2 moving parts
In the drama , stop motion is being made! It's a bunch of pictures put together to make a video.
